Formations
Certain events will require you to join a rally with the correct heroes in a timely manner. This is where formatocome into play. Have a formation ready to send to join a rally, bolster a buildings defense or start your own rally! Here's how it works:
Clicking the profile picture in the top right brings you to this screen. You'll see a tab at the bottom called squad, you'll need to click it to get this next screen:
As you can see here, there is a button on the bottom called formations. If you click this button it will bring you to a place that you can preset hero formations with custom troop ratios and specific heroes to your likings. Check it out:
As you can see here, I have a preset made already. You'll want at least one attack preset, 1 defense formation and a rally start formation. Setting these up is simple. Simply click the hero spot and placement in the lineup and then the troop ratios as you like. For default it's typically ok to keep your troop ratio mixed without needing to change anything. Now let's go over saving the preset before we talk about what's a good starter formation for each type.
When you click save at the bottom it will bring up this screen. By selecting a specific save number, you'll be prompted to rename it if you'd like, and decide how you want the game to remember your troop formations underneath. And that's it, you've saved a formation!
Now, let's go over what's a few good starter set ups to get you going. I won't go over hero talents here, as it is in a different section of the guides, but instead I will give you some good basic set ups and brief explanation why.
Here is a good defense rally joiner (1st pic), and a good attack rally joiner (2nd pic). The reason that blue heroes are used behind the first selected player is because when joining a rally, only the first heroes primary skill is used and no other heroes or skills are used for the rally bonus. Hero skills will be explained in the hero guide section to better understand how hero skills work in game.
For a rally starter set up, this is a good team. If you don't have the vip hero Helga, utilize another hero with strong attack skills. Look in the hero guide for further explanation. The reason that there are three heroes in this formation that have skill bonuses to attack, is because when starting the rally, you become the rally captain, in which all three heroes and any of their war skills are utilized to buff the rally group.
